OUR STORY

A Small Sketch & A Big Dream

Chet was just a country boy trapped in a subdivision looking for a way out when he stumbled upon 20 acres for sale. The next day we walked around this farm ground and it instantly felt like home. Since that day the dreams haven't stopped and we look forward to all that we can accomplish with what God has given us.

ABOUT COYOTE ACRES

In 2013 our family moved and settled into Chatham, IL with a toddler and a newborn baby. We spent the next few years surviving like most new parents, but we never quite felt at home in town. We knew our home there was a stepping stone to something much bigger, but we weren't quite sure when and how we would ever move on to that dream. For eight years we stayed put and saved up, and then one day Chet was driving along and stumbled upon a fresh "For Sale By Owner" sign planted on 20 acres. We made the calls, we walked the ground, and we made the offer. In April of 2020, "Coyote Acres" officially became ours and we spent the next 2.5 years developing farm ground into our homestead. An orchard was planted, a quarter of a mile lane was put in, we inherited chickens and purchased more, we started pumpkin patches, we built "The Shed", and one day Morrisa told Chet that flower farming seemed like a great idea.

Our family believes in getting back to the basics: raising and growing our own food, baking from scratch, and learning the skills that seem to be lost on our generations. As we continue to grow in our homesteading journey we hope that you will take an active interest in learning along with us. Check back often to see what else we've gotten ourselves in to...it sounds like cows are coming in 2025.

FREE RANGE | FARM FRESH EGGS

Our girls all have names and are treated like any pet you'd consider part of your family. They have access to fresh food and water in their coop, as well as time outside each day to enjoy what nature offers: fresh grass and fresh bugs. We pride ourselves on offering our chickens a cozy place to live and endless snuggles when they will allow. We love seeing our cartons of rainbow eggs go home with you.
